A quick read for wine lovers who want to know what is in the bottle and why it tastes so good.
On my first visit to Sicily, I was struck by how close the vineyards come to the sea. Walk past the sand and, almost at once, you are among vines. It is not just beautiful. It is practical. Sicily is warm and the sea breeze cools the vines through the day, helping the grapes keep freshness as they ripen.
If you cannot plant near the beach, you go up. Elevation brings cooler nights and a slower, more even journey to ripeness. That is exactly where the vineyards for our Sicilian red blend are found. One set of vines sits on a high plateau between Marsala and Salemi. The other grows around Vita, further inland on sun soaked slopes with rocky soils. Together, they create the flavour we love.

The above map shows where our two vineyards are on the west coast of Sicily.
The Two Places That Shape Our Red Wine
Marsala–Salemi High Plateau (Syrah): Higher, breezier vineyards mean cooler nights and patient ripening. Think fine tannins, peppery lift, and bright red fruit.
Vita (Nero d’Avola): Sun-soaked slopes with rocky soils. This is where the dark cherries, plum, and a hint of wild herbs come from.
So, why do we blend these two vineyards together?`
When we sat down with our winemaker Ivan, the brief was simple. We wanted a Thursday night pasta wine. Something you can open after work, cook a favourite bowl of something simple, and feel like you have been looked after.
Syrah brings spice, freshness, and a lifted aroma that loves food. Nero d’Avola brings softness, juicy fruit, and that moreish feel that makes the glass disappear. Blended together, you get a red that is bright yet rich, savoury yet smooth, and perfect for everyday cooking as well as weekend meals.
